Replacement Upper Plate for the SP Takegawa Oil Cooler
About quality and texture: I am happy with the quality of the oil cooler upper plate from SP Takegawa. Made from an aluminium extrusion with mounting posts pressed in and finished in a silver anodizing. About the feeling of use: A very rigid construction but the mounting posts can come loose if you over tighten the mounting screws, which is why I needed a replacement. Products to buy together: Some replacement sealing washer for the oil cooler banjo fitting would also be desirable to purchase along side the upper plate as disassembly of the oil cooler is required to swap the part over. Difficulty of installation: The process to install takes about 30 minutes, remove the banjo fittings from the oil cooler and remove the oil cooler from its mounting bracket. Then loosen the four bolts securing the upper and lower plates together, I found these bolts difficult to remove and they would tend to want to bend the oil cooler guard mounting tabs, so be careful with that. Swap the upper plate and reverse the process for the installation. A little difficult to do. Cost performance and comparison with other products: Good costing as you are getting well finished part to repair your oil cooler for a fair price as compared to buying a complete replacement oil cooler from SP Takegawa. About shipping and packaging: Sea frieght was my preferred method of shipping due to the lower cost but currently this service is unavailable from Japan Post, EMS is much faster which is nice. Webike kept me updated on the status of my order up to when it shipped. The parcel arrived within the expected date range and was well packaged with no chance of the part being damaged. Any concerns, cautions, or advice when purchasing: This replacement upper plate will fit the 3 fin and 4 fin oil cooler from SP Takegawa. View detail
