If the vehicle is in the 90's, I would recommend replacement.
I started Restore of ESTRELLA, which is no longer ridden and immobilized.
Just before I stopped riding, I had frequent oil leaks, and I was looking for various causes this time while I was restoring the car.
(1) Deterioration of Piston ring → done.
(2) CamTensioner problems→this time.
(3) Gasket degradation→ yet.
I would like to look at the Camshaft Chain Tensioner.
I was suspicious because of the following symptoms
▲Oil leak
▲Engine noise is annoying and rattles.
The higher the rpm, the slower it gets.
Because of the symptoms of the disease.
[Camshaft Chain Tensioner]
It is designed to prevent the camshaft chain from loosening or sagging, and is made of rubber or spring. 。 The camshaft chain is a very large component located above the cylinder head.
If there is a problem with the Chain tensioner...
Oil leaks or oozes, rattling noises when cold, and the Engine warning light may come on. 。 The chain tensioner is attached to the chain line between the camshaft and crankshaft inside the engine in connection with the chain slider.
It seems that the Camshaft Chain starts to stretch after 20,000km, and the failure of ESTRELLA seems to be a design defect depending on the year. I have an Initial Model, so bingo!
The Camshaft Chain Tensioner is supposed to maintain the proper tension of the Camshaft Chain so that it does not go out of control, but since it is defective, the Camshaft Chain is running out of control while it is stretched.
I would like to make an exchange.
According to the story, after 2000, Tensioner is the countermeasure, so I used that one.
It seems that there are a lot of Tensioner's galling in the 90's cars.
Procedure
(1) Open the Head and remove the Tensioner. 。
Open the Head from the vehicle Left and remove the Tensioner. 。 You just take Bolt in two places.
The old Tensioner has some signs of being scraped by friction. I guess it was probably scraped by rubbing against the Camshaft Chain.
↓
(2) Put on a new Tensioner.
↓
(3) Complete with Head's Cover.
Oil can be worked without removing it. However, it is easier to work if the vehicle body is level, so it is recommended to use a center stand.
[After exchange]
The Tappet sound is bothersome, but the clattering sound is gone.
There is no oil leak near the cylinder, but there seems to be oil leak near the oil line, so it will take more time.
If you are driving a 90's vehicle like myself, or if you are planning to buy a used vehicle, I think you should replace the Tensioner with one from 2000 or later.
I believe that this repair is possible on an individual Level.

Bore up car is a good component to check.
When we recently replaced the Valve stem seal during the Overhaul, we also replaced the exhaust Valve Stem.
Why? →Valve on the exhaust side is bright white and slightly GizaGiza................this looks bad (lol).
What symptoms did you have?
?Many stalls while driving.
No ?Idling.
I have not been able to improve the above even after ?Carburetor setting.
?Black smoke is now coming out of the Exhaust System.

Carbon adherence to Valve

→The possible reason is that when I initially bore up to 75cc, I was turning the carburetor setting quite a bit with the carburetor setting thin.
What is Valve Stem in Engine?
Valve Stem is related to Engine, and the axis of intake/exhaust valve formed by the umbrella and the Stem part is called "Quantity:The term refers to the bearing portion that is set.
Valve stem seals can be used to prevent engine oil leakage.
Where is the Engine valve?
Engine valves are installed at the intake and exhaust ports, and like valves in the heart, they are constantly opening and closing to control air inflow and exhaust gas discharge.
Simply put, it's like a doorway or door to the combustion chamber. 。 It is such an important component that it is not an exaggeration to say that it determines the performance of the Engine, and the reason why there is a limit to the number of revolutions of the Engine is because the Valve cannot keep up with the revolutions.
If you compare the engine to the heart, the engine valve is a valve-like component inside the heart. 。
Valve Replacement Method Same as with Stem Seal.
procedure
?Remove the Dynamo cover to expose the Flywheel. Similarly, remove the Side cover of the Cylinder head.
↓
(2) Match the notch on the Crankcase with the top dead center mark (T) of the Flywheel and the 0Mark on the Camshaft Sprocket with the notch on the Cylinder head.
Remove the locker arm, take the camshaft, remove the Valve Spring using the ValveSpring compressor, and remove the Stem Seal→.
Remove the Valve Stem and replace it with a new one.
After installation, do not forget to adjust the tappet clearance using a Thickness Gauge and Tappet Adjust Wrench.
The following is the sequence of assembly:?→?→?.
In my case, I found a damaged Valve Stem when I replaced the Stem Seal.
Stem seal replacement and valve stem cleaning or replacement are done at the same time.
The exhaust valve was available from POSH, but it was for the Big Fin Head Bore Up Kit, so it was NG.
OEM.
[After exchange]
◎Idling is good.
◎Stalling while driving was eliminated.
◎Black smoke also disappeared.
Regardless of the Engine Displacement Volume, if you bore up with the Normal head, the high RPM range and Main jet should be a slightly thicker number.
I don't want them to have to struggle and go the long way like I did (laughs).

Genuine Yamaha Cam Chain Tensioner Gasket for V STAR 950 TOURER
There was an issue witht eh gasket for the cam chain tensioner on this bike as it failed to hold. We decided it was time to get this sorted and buy a brand new genuine Yamaha part to fix. Finding the right part for this was not tricky at all. I just used the tools from the help pages Webike provide and then for my own peace of mind, cross referenced with Yamaha schematics. Really good price from Webike for this and as it is a genuine Yamaha part, I know this will be perfect. I had some other parts in this order and had them all shipped together to save some cost of the shipping. EMS is who I use these days as they just get the job done swiftly. My order arrived in one piece with no damage in 5 days from shipping my order. The parts were all very well packed and perfect. The gasket came in the regular Yamaha packet and also inside a bubble wrap envelope from Webike warehouse. The gasket itself is very well made and is spot on t=witht he tolerances needed. Genuine Kawasaki O Ring 14mm for KLE400 1996
So, this bike had a lot of issues with a leak from the radiator system which the customer could not figure out where it was coming from. It was found upon closer inspection that a couple of the small o rings had failed in the system and disintegrated somewhat. Time for a set of new ones. The parts were not hard to find using the help pages and tools Webike provide. I did a little more research to make sure these were the correct ones too. The price was perfect and very cheap, I ordered a couple so I would have a spare if needed. The order was sent via EMS and arrived with me in 5 days from shipping. The o rings are not particularly exciting but they do hold an important job with the system as the owner found out. Luckily, there was not damage to any of the o rings in transit and they are just great condition. There is enough flex but not too soft for the job in hand. Genuine Yamaha Cam Chain Tensioner Bolt for FZR600 1997
This old girl had a few issues and the cam chain tensioner needed replacing being one of them. Along with the tensioner, I also needed the bolt too. This is where Webike came in. The bolt is not just some generic bolt, it has a super fine thread and the size needs to be exact to work correctly. The part was not too difficult to find using the Yamaha schematics etc. With all the other items in my order these were delivered by EMS in 5 dyas. All my parts were perfect and no damage was sustained during transit. As I said, this is not just some random bolt, it needs to be precise for it to work as it should. The threads are super clean, the head is nice and sturdy and the socket I use fits snuggly. All fitted relatively easily if you know what you are doing. Genuine Honda Gasket for Cylinder on CBR125R 2012
This bike definitely needed a new gasket as the previous owner just did not keep up with maintenance at all. This bike has done a lot of miles in it's life with it being a 125cc anyway. Not a big deal, I found the correct part number from Honda schematics etc. Webike price was really competitive too. A few other parts with this were ordered together by EMS and delivered in 5 days. All my order was delivered with no issues, all the gaskets were kept flat so not to damage. This gasket is not a big one but it does have some intricate details that need to be correct to fit the cylinder. You can see it has been manufacturered the right way and not cheaped out on it. It is sturdy and has a slight flexibility. All the holes aligned with the fitment and went on pretty easily too. Fitted quickly but precisely in just under an hour with everything else put back together. Genuine Suzuki Valve Stem Seals
After recent rebuild using Viton valve stem seals, was dissapointed they started leaking straight away so went genuine route. OEM replacements
This product is a great the OEM. With the help of youtube how to videos the installation was very straight forward. I did have some question on what was needed to install the valves and the online chat room answered all my question.Installed these with the springs as well, after the initial break in, maybe 4 hours, Haven't had to adjust the valves for about 40 hours and counting.Hold up great in a highly built 4 stroke engine that takes a lot of abuse.
