This was also replaced in this Overhaul.
One of Carburetor's Parts.
Pilot screw, a component inside the carburetor.
The role of the Pilot screw.
The pilot screw is incorporated in the engine side more than the throttle valve, and its role is to control the amount of the air mixture supply after the air and gasoline are mixed. 。 When the screws are tightened, the mixture supply to the cylinder is reduced, resulting in a thinner mixture in the cylinder. Conversely, loosening the screw increases the mixture supply to the cylinder, resulting in a thicker mixture in the cylinder.
Similar and different from this is Air Screw.
This is,
[Air Screw
The air screw is incorporated in the air cleaner box side than the throttle valve, and its role is to control the amount of air before mixing with gasoline. 。 When the screw is tightened, the air volume is reduced and the mixture becomes thicker. Conversely, loosening the screw increases the amount of air, resulting in a thinner mixture. 。 Adjustment of the Air Screw has the characteristic of affecting not only the Idling area but also the entire Throw system.
They look amazing, don't they?
But, to put it simply.
Pilot screw → mixture adjustment
[Air Screw → air volume adjustment
Quite the opposite. 。
Pilot screw Tighten → thin
Mixed air decreases → thin
[Air Screw The →thickens as it tightens.
The air volume decreases → thickens.
[When adjusting the Pilot screw...]
○Idling may be unstable,
○When the low-speed start-up is not in good shape
○When adjusting for seasonal temperature changes or changes in atmospheric pressure.
The general method of adjusting the Pilot screw is
Turn the Pilot screw to Right
→ mixture air thinner.
Turn Pilot screw to Left
→ mixed air becomes thicker.
Use the Idle Adjusting Screw to lower the engine speed to a stable level, and then use the Pilot Screw again to adjust the engine to the position where the RPM is highest.
Common malfunctions
This is also the malfunction I found during my overhaul.
▲ORing was defective.
Forgot to attach the ▲O-ring.
How to exchange
(1) Gasoline is turned off
↓
(2) Remove Gasoline in the carburetor.
↓
Disconnect the Throttle Cable on the carburetor side.
↓
Loosen the bolt of the indicator (Rubber connecting the engine and the carburetor).
↓
(5) Remove the carburetor.
↓
(6) Loosen the Screw on the lower side of the carburetor and open it.
↓
The Pilot screw is located diagonally below the Pilot Jet.
↓
(8) Insert the O-ring, Packing, and a new Pilot screw.
Be careful not to over-tighten.
↓
? Assemble in reverse order and put back together.
In fact, the range of the Pilot screw is wider than that of the Pilot screw, so that a small setting after replacing the Exhaust System can be done only with the Pilot screw.

Large change when broken
We are Restore to a great extent.
The Under-seat engine hole was replacing internal parts, but we will also be replacing the almost external parts.
Drain bolt.
This part is really dangerous when it breaks.
[Drain bolt]
The role of the drain bolt.
[Why pull Gasoline from Carburetor?
(1) When emptying Gasoline in the carburetor in the carburetor settingetc.
When replacing Fuel Tank and Fuel Cock.
(3) When the oil level rises inside the carburetor and fuel overflows, causing Gasoline to overflow.
If the Gasoline is in a large amount, there is a danger of ignition if the engine is running.
If the drain bolt is broken...
Gasoline in the carburetor will leak.
Sorry for the analogy, but it's like a broken faucet.
The following happens
Fuel is wasted because Gasoline is not stored in the→Carburetor.
The fuel mixture is always thick because the flow of→Gasoline does not stop, and it is impossible to run because it is covered.
→ Worst case, Gasoline may catch fire in heated Engines.
A really dangerous place to defect.
In my case, the drain bolt was not defective and could be used as is, but I replaced it considering the part that is always in contact with Gasoline plus the age of the product.
How to exchange When not leaking Gasoline
If you can get the Point down, it is easier than Overhaul.
(1) Level the vehicle body. →Center Stand or by Jack.
↓
(2) Turn off Fuel Cock.
↓
(3) Loosen the old Drain bolt and let out Gasoline in the carburetor.
↓
Remove the old drain bolt. In my case, it was rusted.
↓
(5) Completed by replacing it.
~Gasoline leaking when
Stop the fuel flow completely at ?→?.
Place a container under the→carburetor to catch the fuel and completely drain the Gasoline in the carburetor.
→?→?
〜After replacement
◎No more breathing at any RPM range.
→I thought the drain bolt prevented leaks and stabilized the oil level.
◎Gasoline smell completely disappeared.
I→m sure it was a little leaky.
Although it is not a part that breaks easily, it is a part that is in constant contact with Gasoline, so you never know when a problem may occur.

What is Pilot Jet?
Pilot Jet Slow Jet. Or, IdolJet. also called 。
* This Jet is a lightweight fuel for the Pilot system.
Weighs the amount of fuel in low-speed operation from Idling 。 The larger the number, the larger the diameter and the thicker the mixture.
*Idling to low speed region.
The role of the Pilot Jet.
Pilot Jet is a throttle to control the amount of fuel supplied to the engine.
It is used for Idling and other low-speed Engine applications.
Why is it called Pilot or Throw?
Pilot→Mikuni carburetor
○Throw→Name in KEIHINcarburetor
Both work exactly the same.
Note, however, that they are not interchangeable since they are designed by different manufacturers.
Pilot Jet's number.
As with main jet etc., there is a number, and the higher the number, the darker the color.
■Number of the number Small→ thin
■■Number of the number Large→dense
The setting is done in the form of "Setting".
Who is setting up the Pilot Jet?
(When changing to an exhaust system with good ventilation, etc.)
Case of Pilot Jet failure

。
When it's stuck→.
Power is lost at low speeds.
▲RPM does not increase.
Idling is unstable.
▲After Fire comes out of Exhaust System.
The adverse effects of this are.
(2) Deficiency
...Actually, this Case is the Case I have decided to replace this time.
The brass-made screwdriver is soft and does not come off, so if you turn the screwdriver with strong force or try to tighten it too hard, it tends to lick the screwdriver. If you try to tighten the screwdriver too hard, it will lick easily. If you lick it, the size of the jet hole will change and you will not be able to use it. It will have to be replaced.
I think it is necessary to use a shorter driver as a countermeasure, and to apply force to the pinpoint and remove it while being conscious of the center of gravity being directly below.
↓
(7) The Pilot Jet is located under the Main Jet, and the Driver is carefully turned so as not to lick it.
↓
(8) Turn the new Pilot Jet in slowly by hand at first, and then tighten it with the Driver to finish.
It is best if you feel a light resistance.
↓
? Assemble in reverse order and put back together.
It is really soft and can easily be licked if you put too much force on it, so be careful. Also, there have been cases where a customer has forced the needle gold through to remove a blockage, causing the hole to widen in the opposite direction.

Inspect and replace at overhaul.
I used it for an OEMcarburetor overhaul. 。
Parts inside Carburetor.
It is a toothpick-like component called Needle Jet (laughs).
[Carburetor's Needle Jet role].
The Needle Jet is a toothpick-shaped component that sticks into the main jet.
When the Needle Jet is lifted in accordance with the Axel opening, the gap between the holes in the main jet widens and the amount of fuel supplied increases.
→ It serves as a fuel conditioner.
What area of the rotation do you take on?
[Needle Jet range].
。
In most cases, "setting" in Jet needle refers to changing the clip position.
However, the Needle itself has its own number, and the taper (needle sharpness, angle, etc.) changes the fuel tone. 。 If you touch this much, it is a Level for advanced users.
→ usually little need to be changed.
[Needle location].
...Needle itself has tiers, and the number of tiers is set by adding a Clip to the set number of tiers and setting the position of the Clip.
Relationship between number of steps and density
Top row thin

Bottom row Dark
and the lower you come to the bottom tier, the denser it will be.
[Needle Jet's life expectancy].
I don't have a specific time or period in mind, but I can say that the lifespan seems to vary depending on whether or not the internal overhaul is done regularly.
There was no→wear or anything like that, but at the time of the overhaul, I thought it would be a good idea to renew the internal parts for the future, so I decided to replace them.
[Symptoms of Needle Jet wear.
Wear of the Needle Jet is mainly caused by the oval deformation of the hole. 。 At the same time, the Needle plugged into the Needle Jet also becomes thinner, which disturbs the Clearance between the Needle Jet and the Needle, resulting in a thick air mixture.

(1) Turn off Fuel Cock.
↓
(2) Remove Gasoline in the carburetor.
Loosen the drain bolt and it will come out.
↓
(3) Use Phillips Screwdriver to remove the lower no-screw of the carburetor. The screw is soft, so do not lick it. Turn counterclockwise.
↓
There is a Vacuum Piston in the upper part of the body, where the Jet Needle fits.
↓
(5) New Needle, Clip and put it in VacuumPiston.

Large cuttings that keep the oil level.
I used it for an OEMcarburetor overhaul. 。
Parts inside Carburetor.
To put it very simply, it is like a float that floats in a Pool filled with Gasoline called the Float Chamber at the bottom of the Carburetor.
What is a Float chamber?
Float chamber means Float room. 。
A container for holding a certain amount of fuel that flows from the Fuel Pump. 。
In order to supply the proper amount of fuel to the main nozzle where fuel is being sucked out, the system uses a Needle Valve and Float to keep the liquid level at a constant height.
The role of Carburetor's Float chamber.
The ‥Float chamber plays a role like a Pool that temporarily accumulates fuel in the carburetor.
Fuel accumulated in the float chamber is mixed with air through the Slow Jet and Main Jet, and finally supplied to the engine as air mixture.
How does Carburetor's Float formula work?
The Float system is one of the fuel supply methods, and the carburetor has a dedicated space for storing fuel such as Gasoline called Float chamber, and a unique shaped float called *Float is installed inside this Float chamber. 。 The movement of the Float then adjusts the amount of fuel flow out to provide fuel for the mixture.
Float = component changed this time.
Float, however, is in constant contact with gasoline, so it will deteriorate. Deterioration seems to be inevitable, not just a cause.
As the Float deteriorates, the buoyancy of the Float decreases.
What happens when Float's buoyancy decreases? ]
Float will deform and lose buoyancy if it is exposed to Gasoline for a long time and deteriorates.
The valve may not close with enough force to stop the gasoline from flowing into the fuel tank, causing the oil level to rise above the standard level.
→Overflow occurs.
On the other hand, if the oil level of the carburetor is too low due to deformation, etc., the oil level of the carburetor will be too low.
The fuel mixture is insufficient to meet the fuel requirements, resulting in symptoms such as a thin fuel mixture or, in extreme cases, the inability to start the engine.
Continuously low fuel level puts a continuous load on the engine, which may lead to a risk of engine blowout. 。 It can give more serious Damage than high oil level conditions and should be treated with caution.
In other words, Float is →.
The function of keeping the gasoline oil level in the float chamber of the carburetor constant and supplying fuel.
[Causes of Float Deterioration]
Trouble may occur if the Gasoline in the Chamber is altered or the Float itself is corroded due to decades of aging or prolonged neglect since its manufacture.
→ In my case, it's been over 20 years since manufacture. I think deterioration is undeniable.
It seems to me that replacement is desirable at some point, especially at Overhaul.
I immediately disassembled and replaced it, but the Float I took out was discolored brown (laugh).
If I keep using it like this, it's going to melt.
I'm glad I had the exchange.
Although there are few cases where only a Single Item is replaced, it is one of the parts that should be checked every time a Carburetor is overhauled.

Genuine Kawasaki Carb Holder boot for KX65 2017
A small job but this carb seal for the KX65 2017 model was needed as the old one sustained some damage with rocks. Finding the part was pretty straight forward by using the tools Webike provide. When I checked on Webike to see if they had the part, luckily they had so added to my order. With some other parts, all were delivered by EMS in 5 days. The boot is good quality as I expected anyway from Kawasaki and having had these kind of parts previous. Old ones are susceptible to damage but it's rare, they usually just deteriorate with age of lack of maintenance. The cost of this part was really good value. It came in it's own little packet and no damage in transit. The material is some kind of rubber but strengthened, not 100% sure with what but a new boot will do the job great. Very happy with the ourchase. Thank you Webike. View detail
