Description

Ohlins steering damper consists of a piston [A], a shaft [B], an oil passage [C] in parallel, and a cylinder [D] enclosing them, with a damping force adjustment dial [E] at the end of the cylinder.
The adjustment dial is operated in conjunction with the adjustment dial valve installed in the passage to ensure a wide adjustment range, and the oil quantity is controlled by the mechanism part installed on the other side to adjust the change in oil quantity due to thermal expansion.
There are two types of oil quantity adjustment mechanism [F]: the conventional type [Fig. 1] and the new type [Fig. 2].
The feature of the new type is that a spring is used for the adjustment mechanism of the oil volume, so it can cope with internal capacity changes caused by any temperature changes more than before, and generates smooth and stable damping force.
PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) seals and bushings reduce the coefficient of friction for improved friction performance.
■Main shaft
Through-rod main shaft with integral structure.Because of the unique integrated structure, the superiority in shaft straightness is noteworthy.Needless to say, it has been polished to the limit by super finishing process.
■Main Tube
Polished inner wall to make the piston rod smoother.It demonstrates the best combination with piston rings.
