In the U.S., environmental regulations to reduce the copper content in automotive brake pads to less than 5% by 2021 and less than 0.5% by 2025 are coming into effect. It is expected that copper regulations will spread to other parts of the world, including Japan.
NTB has been developing copper-free polishing materials to comply with copper regulations ahead of this trend, and has now developed a copper-free polishing material with braking force, aggressiveness, and durability comparable to current products.
Therefore, we will switch to the new material products as soon as the stock of the existing products runs out.
