Targeted at old vehicles such as Z1 and GSX1100SKATANA, 18" wheels designed with even numbered spokes for superior force distribution.

The symmetrical 6 even spokes design attracted attention as a new design while 5 or 7 odd spokes were the mainstream at the time.
From this "Nostalgic" design, the first letter "N" was taken and it was named "TYPE-N".
