Cavitation is a nightmare for the shock absorber.
When bubbles appear in the oil, the damping force of the shock absorber, which depends on the flow resistance of the liquid, is catastrophically affected.
Although it is possible to reduce this problem by increasing the gas pressure or increasing the reservoir capacity, it is not a fundamental solution.
To prevent this foaming, Ohlins has prepared the "Twin Tube Cross Flow", TTX.
The oil pushed out by the piston flows through the cylinder head, between the tubes, and returns to the back of the piston.
The very simple internal structure does not generate turbulence and maintains a proper pressure balance to prevent cavitation.
In addition to these advantages, TTX has brought many other positive results to the shock absorber, such as fully independent damping adjustment on the rebound and compression sides, and a wider and more accurate adjustment range.
