Description
It's been almost 30 years since the introduction of the Serow and it's been loved by beginners and experienced riders alike. Despite its 250cc single-cylinder, it is often seen on the highway, showing that it is not just for mountain riding.
With its light weight of 130 kg, 225 mm suspension stroke and good footing, the Serow can tackle rough forest roads and unpaved paths without hesitation, but this inevitably leads to a higher rate of damage to the exterior. The headlight is one of the most important parts that can be fatal. We've designed a lightweight and tough headlight guard from the ground up to protect the headlights of the Serow.
The stainless steel brackets are made of stainless steel (SUS304), which is rustproof and rigid. The guard is made of polycarbonate, which is lightweight and 200 times stronger than glass.

Lightweight, impact resistant, and high light transmission.
These were essential points in designing this product. Polycarbonate is used for the protector part as a material that meets these requirements.
Lightweight
The protector weighs only 58g, so you won't even notice it's attached.
Impact resistance
Polycarbonate is resistant to deformation, breakage and shattering. Polycarbonate is five times stronger than ABS, 40 times stronger than acrylic, and approximately 200 times stronger than glass. Therefore, this material is in demand in a wide range of fields, from general industrial products to military applications. (*This does not mean that the headlights can always be protected from direct hits by rocks due to falls, etc.)
Light Transmittance
The light transmittance of polycarbonate is almost equal to that of glass, though not as high as that of acrylic. Due to this excellent transparency, even when driving at night, the light does not diminish to a degree that can be felt, and a good view can be secured. I used to ride Suzuki DR-Z400, which is famous for its dark headlight, and it was really scary on the country road without street light. I don't think the headlight of the Serow is extremely dark, but it was an important factor to have a material that is not diminished as much as possible.
In addition to the above, polycarbonate is resistant to high and low temperature conditions (-100 to 130 degrees Celsius) and has excellent flame retardant properties.
Because of its high performance, polycarbonate is used in a variety of products such as aircraft, automotive parts, optical equipment, medical equipment, and bulletproof glass.
Polycarbonate has excellent impact resistance performance. Protects the headlight from stepping stones and hits from trees. Can be purchased separately as a repair part.

Adoption of stainless steel SUS304 to withstand harsh environments
This product's bracket is made of SUS304, an alloy steel of chrome and nickel. Stainless steel is classified into several types due to differences in content, but this material is used in a wide variety of products ranging from household goods, automotive parts, construction materials, and nuclear power equipment due to its excellent corrosion resistance (rust resistance) and heat resistance characteristics. Through trial and error, we have derived a plate thickness with a good balance of weight and strength. It does not affect the light handling of off-road bikes.
A 1.5mm rubber seal is included for anti-vibration and frame pipe protection.
These seals keep the frame firmly in place even on highways and uneven surfaces.
