Now in its ninth edition, World Ducati Week (WDW) is an event where Ducati riders from around the world gather to celebrate the brand and generally have a good time. Held in summer, WDW is also where Ducati shows off new models, or model updates, and this year’s event – from July 1 to 3 at Riviera Romagnola, Italy – is no different.
Ducati has said that it will be unveiling two new models at the WDW at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. The first is a “90th Anniversary” special limited-edition motorcycle, while the other is the unveiling of a 2017 model.
Speculation is rife as to what these two machines might be. Talk of a big-bore Scrambler has been bandied about previously, and would make sense, given Ducati’s treatment of and the success of the previous generation Monster-series bikes.

Another possibility could be the re-introduction of the Streetfighter in 1299 guise. While the 848 Streetfighter still appears in Ducati’s catalogue, not much attention has been paid to it in recent years, since its introduction in 2011. By all accounts, those who did buy Ducati Streetfighters are holding on to them.
With the impending release of three new Hypermotard models in Malaysia, along with the Malaysian launch of the 959 Panigale and Xdiavel, all scheduled for late this year, it looks like its a good time to be a Ducatisti.
