Yamaha R series bikes are equipped with under cowls that are based on the image of a diffuser, to give them the best form for aero-management. These are not cowls for simply enclosing the engine, but forms composed of blade surfaces that actively control airflow. This spirit has been directly inherited by the YZF-R15s.

The carburetted version of its street naked FZ-S was also discontinued and the FZ-SI FI, which has been doing well in terms of sales, will take up its place, also the least expensive version- Yamaha FZ will still be available on sale.

The third motorcycle in cut off list was the semi-faired version of FZ-series- the Fazer. Sharing the same faith as its steetbike sibling, the Fazer also gets replaced by a fuel injected version. It is expected that the discontinuation of both carburetted version will help the company increase the sales of its Fuel-injected version of both bikes. The fourth scooter that production was put on hold is the Ray, which was the first scooter that was offered by the company to Indian Market. Now, Yamaha’s recently launched scooter, the Fascino has received positive response from its buyers, which led the company to stop the production of Ray.
