KOSO, a Taiwanese parts and electrical equipment manufacturer, has released the “GP Style Aerodynamic Wing Kit”. KOSO manufactures electronic parts like meters, engine parts or even body parts. They are the well-known Taiwanese custom parts company.
Is it designed in the motif the “Winglets” used in MotoGP races?
At the MotoGP races, various manufacturers have been endeavoring to install “Winglets”, the aerodynamic part, on their machines to suppress wheelies.
The power level of the MotoGP machines are said to exceed 250 horsepower. And since they weigh approximately 150kg, they easily wheelie. Though engines do control the bike not to flip over, you need to stop the bike wheelie and draw out the power smoothly in order to transmit the engine power to the road surface efficiently.
That’s what these “Winglets” are for. These wings have been tested repeatedly over several times since the days of the WGP, and was adopted by DUCATI for real. Now, many other manufacturers follow.
However, since these protrusions are considered to be unsafe, the use of aerodynamic wings in the 2017 MotoGP might be banned.
Custom parts that get inside a “man’s psyche”
This KOSO “Wing Kit” is a product that models after that “Winglet” after all. Yet, at the same time, it is a custom part that can turn your motorcycle look like a race machine. KOSO is skillful at creating parts for motor scooters, but this “Wing Kit” can suit any type of motorcycles depending on how you install it, for it designed for universal use.
It is to be installed with the attached double-sided adhesive tape. Yet, if you are planning to use it in high speed condition, you might need to fix it with rivet bolts, just like its predecessor “Winglet”.
Its list price is 2,200JPY (without tax).
