The new 2016 Yamaha<\/a> Cygnus Ray-ZR \u00a0has just been launched in India, coming in two versions \u2013 the base ZR with drum brakes, and the high-spec version with single front disc brake. Retailing at 52,000 rupees for the base version, and 54,500 rupees for the disc brake equipped ZR, this urban scooter is targeted at young males wanting a more \u2018masculine\u2019 and aggressively styled mode of transport.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to reports, the previous generation Cygnus Ray was deemed as \u201ctoo feminine\u201d in styling by the male Indian buying public. The new 2016 Cygnus Ray-ZR \u2013 which replaces the Ray-Z \u2013 comes with a 113 cc two-valve, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine, part of Yamaha\u2019s of \u201cBlue Core\u201d engine range, designed for use in <\/span>under-bone motorcycles<\/span> and scooters.<\/span><\/p>\n

Coming with sharp edges and wide, flat body panels, the 2016 Cygnus Ray-ZR has a claimed fuel consumption figure of 1.5 litres\/100 km, and weighs-in at 103 kg. There is also a 21-litre under-seat storage compartment. Expected to hit Indian dealerships in May, the 2016 Yamaha Cygnus Ray-ZR will be sold alongside the Cygnus Ray, which will be marketed to female riders.<\/span><\/p>\n
