The BMW G 310 R compact naked sportsbike which is set to be manufactured by TVS in India for global consumption is being showcased at <\/span>2016 Geneva Motor Show<\/span><\/a>. The motorcycle made its Indian debut at the <\/span>Auto Expo<\/span><\/a> last month.<\/span>

Developed as a part of a technology cooperation agreement between Germany\u2019s BMW Motorrad and India\u2019s TVS Motor Co., the G 310 R is the most affordable motorcycle in the automaker\u2019s portfolio. As per the arrangement, BMW is responsible for engineering aspect of the product while TVS is in charge of manufacturing it. It\u2019s to be noted that the G 310 R will spawn a fully faired Indian counterpart which was previewed by the TVS Akula 310<\/span><\/span>\u00a0concept.<\/span>

The 313 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor is rotated by 180 degree about its vertical axis before being mounted on the chassis (exhaust tube has a shorter route compared to the conventional layout). This layout helps the motorcycle have better packaging, longer swing arm with short wheelbase, and better mass centralization.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mated to a 6-speed transmission, the BMW G 310 R\u2019s fuel-injected motor dishes out 34 PS at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. The motorcycle has a claimed top speed of 144 kmph.<\/span><\/p>\n

Slated to go on sale worldwide in the coming months, the BMW G 310 R will lock horns with the likes of KTM Duke 390 (also India-made), Kawasaki Z250, Honda CB300F, Yamaha MT-03 and so on.<\/span>
