Royal Enfield<\/a> motorcycles of the future promise higher fuel efficiency thanks to new engines that will comply with new emission norms.<\/b><\/p>\n

India has decided to leapfrog from BCIV emission norms to BSVI emission norms by 2020. This means, vehicle manufacturers will be having less time to upgrade their engines to meet these new, stringent emission norms.<\/span><\/p>\n

In order to meet these norms, Royal Enfield<\/a> has started a programme, which is internally called as the Engine Development Program. Under this, the more than a century old brand will be upgrading all their existing as well as upcoming engines.<\/span><\/p>\n

As of now, <\/span>Royal Enfield<\/a><\/span> offers four different engine options \u2013 535 cc with <\/span>Continental GT,<\/span> 500 cc with Thunderbird<\/span>, Classic and <\/span>Bullet Range<\/span>, 410 cc <\/span>with Himalayan<\/span> and 350 cc with Thunderbird, Classic and Bullet range. Under this new engine development program, all these engines will be upgraded.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is not yet clear what will be the exact benefits of upgrading these engines. But the report states that it will not only help RE meet th said emission norms, but will also make their engines more reliable, refined (less vibrations and oil leak), and also deliver more power \/ torque.<\/span><\/p>\n

Royal Enfield<\/a> has confirmed that they are going to enter the Harley Davidson<\/a> Street 750 segment with the launch of their upcoming new motorcycle. This new <\/span>RE was recently spied on test in Europe<\/span>,<\/span> where it is being developed.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is based on the modified cafe racer platform of existing Conti GT, and is powered by a twin cylinder engine with a capacity in the range of 700 \u2013 750 cc. This engine will also be upgraded for India-spec variants.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t
