    Description

ADVANTAGE DIRECT DRIVE RACING DISC Features

ADVANTAGE uses special stainless steel, SCS, based on many years of racing experience, to produce brake discs with high resistance to softening at high temperatures and high heat resistance.

Since the time of its creation, this brake has been used in MotoGP road racing and has been repeatedly tested to its limits in motocross.

It started when Tomoyoshi Koyama brought it to the World GP125 class, and its name spread to the world. The KTM works team is currently managed by Team Ajo, and Koyama was a member of Ajo in his first year of GP125 competition, which led to his employment.
In the GP125 era in 2010, the advantage DIRECT DRIVE RACING DISC was also installed on the DERBI125 when Marc Marquez won the title.

Champion #11, Sandro Cortese, won the inaugural Moto3 class championship that started in the 2012 season.
The brake disc rotors on the Red Bull KTM Ajo team's works machine, KTM250FFR, were fitted with Advantage Racing Disc Direct Drive brakes manufactured by Advantage in Japan.
Also, the late Shoya Tomizawa, #48, won a dramatic victory in the opening round of the 2010 Moto2 season in Qatar.
In the 2016 season, Jonas Forl, #94, won the DYNAVOLT IntactGP, and has been a brilliant performer.

The main feature of the Advantage DIRECT DRIVE RACING DISC is the shape of the floating pin that connects the inner and outer rotors.
The inner and outer discs are supported by a surface rather than a point, which reduces the distortion of the disc rotor and eliminates the problem of burning and heat.
Of course, the power and controllability of the machine were highly evaluated by many riders such as Sandro Cortese, Luis Salom and Jack Miller who won the championship.
For many years, Advantage have been supplying racing parts to each class of All Japan Road Race and have been developing the parts.J-GP3 riders Hiroyuki Kikuchi and Hideyuki Nakashiro, JSB rider Yoshiyuki Sugai, J-GP2 rider Taro Sekiguchi, and other riders with a wealth of racing experience and a strict eye on parts have been using Advantage products for many years, and this is the best proof of their performance.
Team Nobby, led by Noboru Ueda, has been using ADVANTAGE brake parts and wheels for many years in the J-GP3 class, the Spanish Championship and the Suzuka 8-hour endurance race, and Kota Nozane, who won two races in the J-GP2 class with Webike Team Norick YAMAHA, is one of the riders supported by ADVANTAGE. He is also one of our support riders. The advantage of these riders is supported by reliable technology.

The ADVANTAGE brake rotors also perform well in the tough motocross conditions.
The rotor thickness is only 3mm, so the test piece is very severe and there is no better test piece for the durability test.
The project was started in 1991, and from there it was decided to win the All Japan Motocross Championship and Road Race during that season.

The main feature of the new design is that the floating pin is not a round pin, but a plate that is directly attached to the pin from the outer rotor.
By doing this, the disc plate hits the inner surface of the inner disc plate on the side when it rotates, so it does not hit the inner disc plate with pinpoint accuracy like a circular floating pin, which greatly increases the durability of the inner disc plate. The brakes respond linearly to your grip.

In motocross, the brake itself also acts as a suspension.
In the road scene, by controlling the flexing situation, even if you apply panic braking, the front will not lock up and you can jump to the inside of the corner without slipping as the tires bite the road surface.
The front of the bike does not slip when braking on the straights, which gives the rider a sense of security and prevents physical fatigue.
You don't feel anxious when you apply the brakes.
ADVANTAGE is aiming for a braking suspension.

Why can't ADVANTAGE use a circular followings pin?
Because it is a perfect circle, when you want to widen or reduce the clearance, the effect will appear on the entire circumference of the circle, and it will only contact with a pinpoint.
ADVANTAGE has developed a floating system with a T-shape in order to suppress the lateral (thrust) direction and to increase the escape in the longitudinal (radial) direction.
In addition, the special shape of the rotor prevents thermal distortion, and even when the rotor is heated and there is no escape, there is escape in the radial (longitudinal) direction, so the rotor is not distorted.
In addition, the rotor rotates, but because the side of the rotor is straight, there is no damage to the inner disc and no discomfort to the rider.
If this were a circular pin, the stress would be transferred to the area where it hits the surface with pinpoint accuracy, causing the pad to push back or work suddenly, giving the rider an uneasy feeling.

The heat treatment is also unique to Advantage and greatly increases durability.
