Description
The Skid Pad is an engine case protector that reduces damage to the engine itself in the event of a fall.
Originally a racing component used in road racing, the Skid Pad was developed to reduce the load on the engine that could be damaged in a violent fall during circuit driving.
In order to make it commercially available, Moriwaki has thoroughly reviewed the materials, shape, and strength of each part to further improve reliability.
The material and shape of the pad, for example, have been improved and evolved over the years. In order to minimize the risk of fatal engine case damage, we have developed a lineup of products that have gained overwhelming support in touring and street use.

【Starlight Skid Pad (Fluorescent Color)】
The Starlight Skid Pad has been newly developed to further improve safety and performance.
■ Luminescent performance
One of the features of this product is the use of a completely new resin that contains a newly developed light-storing pigment in ultra-high polymer material, the highest-grade of resin in existence.
The product has the characteristic of storing light in visible light and releasing it in the dark, but it is not a mechanical luminous function, so there is no malfunction.
In addition, the ultra-high molecular weight resin is extremely resistant to deterioration over time, improving the durability of the pad itself.
And the inorganic phosphorescent pigment will not diminish the luminous power permanently.
(Depending on the weather conditions at dusk, the luminous power may be weak.)
This luminescent performance is expected to improve the visibility of motorcycles from the side when riding in tunnels during the daytime, at dusk, or at night.

The Starlight Skid Pad accumulates light in the visible light range (approx. 360-830nm), with a residual luminance of 30-40 (mdf/square meter) after 60 minutes.
Visible light refers to the wavelengths of electromagnetic waves that are visible to the human eye, and is emitted by the sun and various other lighting sources.
The lower boundary of the wavelength is approximately 360-400nm, and the upper boundary is approximately 760-830nm.
The newly developed ultra-high polymer resin has improved impact resistance and abrasion resistance compared to conventional skid pads.
