I had been thinking about using iridium plugs every time I changed plugs, but I wondered if they would be cost-effective enough to double the cost, so I ended up using standard plugs. However, since the MOTO DX plugs used in the Z125PRO were quite good, we decided to take the plunge and purchase iridium plugs (since the ZRX1100 does not have MOTO DX plugs) this time, hoping that the ZRX1100 would also benefit from stable idling and other effects. Iridium plugs are available from other manufacturers, but I have been a member of the NGK party since I was young, so I chose NGK again this time.
As for the replacement work, if nothing else, it would be relatively easy, with the only hassle being the removal of the tank. However, this time, when the old plug was removed, we discovered oil seepage in the plug hole, so we decided to replace the plug hole gasket before replacing the plug, This required opening the cylinder head cover and draining the coolant, making the work rather extensive. The replacement of the plugs themselves was easier this time because the thermostat had been removed, which made it easier to access the plugs. According to the service manual, the tightening torque for the plug is 14 Nm, but the instructions that came with the plug said 1/4 turn, so I followed that. I had to adjust the gap on the standard plugs because my vehicle has an ASUOTANI unit in the ignition system, but the Iridium plugs have a wider gap from the start, so I was able to install them without playing around with the gap.
As for the effect, first of all, I felt that the starting performance improved. It was not so bad to begin with, but I felt it was better than before the replacement. In addition, the engine noise at idling became a little quieter than before the replacement, and the idling became more stable. When I drove the car, there was no dramatic improvement, but I felt that the acceleration was a little stronger. Well, this may be my imagination. I thought that I could see some difference if I accelerated harder, but I did not try that. As for fuel consumption, I am not sure yet.
I believe that there was a positive effect from the changeover. In my opinion, the change to Windshield IRIDIUM was effective because the idling became more stable. I feel that whether or not the effect can be felt depends on the condition of the vehicle and the way of driving.

My 3rd Sunstar sprocket. Stock 525 chain has 15 42 tooth gearing. Not happy with power delivery so tried 520 chain with15 43. Still needed a bit more in 3rd, so I installed 15 44. Now where talking. That is the stock gearing on its Z900 brother. I also installed the Z900 complete motor into my Z900RS with high compression heag gasket.
